Multipulse operation of a Ti:sapphire laser mode locked by an ion-implanted semiconductor saturable-absorber mirror

چکیده
We show results obtained from a semiconductor saturable-absorber mirror mode-locked Ti:sapphire soliton laser that was operated in the multiple-pulse regime. Double, triple, and quadruple pulses were observed when the dispersion was decreased below a critical value. The pulse pairs and triplets were either widely separated or closely coupled, and spectra that resembled those of constant as well as rotating phase differences between pulses were observed. We explain our observations in the framework of the generalized complex Ginzburg– Landau equation as the master equation of the laser. © 1999 Optical Society of America [S0740-3224(99)00606-2] OCIS codes: 140.7090, 140.4050, 140.3590.

Multisoliton regime of pulse generation by lasers passively mode locked with a slow saturable absorber
The passively mode-locked laser1–5 has been a muchstudied device in recent years. Ultrashort-pulse generation in laser systems makes use of a variety of schemes, including figure-of-eight fiber laser design,1 fast saturable absorbers,4 additive-pulse mode locking,5 and nonlinear polarization rotation.6,7 The use of a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror8 with a relatively slow response time ...
متن کاملStable mode-locked operation of a low repetition rate diode-pumped Nd:GdVO4 laser by combining quadratic polarisation switching and a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror.
In this paper, we present the mode-locked operation of an ultra-robustly stabilised Nd:GdVO(4) laser with low repetition rate by combining quadratic polarisation switching and a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM). In addition, similar experiment was also done with Nd:YVO(4). For Nd:GdVO(4), 16-ps pulses at 1063 nm with a repetition rate of 3.95 MHz have been obtained for a laser av...
متن کاملTowards low timing phase noise operation in fiber lasers mode locked by graphene oxide and carbon nanotubes at 1.5 µm.
We investigate the timing phase noise of fiber lasers mode locked by graphene oxide (GO) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs), respectively, integrated in a linear cavity fiber laser in the reflecting operation. Due to the shorter decay time of the GO and CNTs, weaker slow saturable absorber effects are expected and mode-locked lasers based on these two saturable absorbers exhibit low excess timing phas...
متن کاملSelf-starting 6.5-fs pulses from a Ti:sapphire laser.
We demonstrate self-starting 6.5-fs pulses from a Kerr-lens mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser with 200-mW average output power at a pulse repetition rate of ~86 M Hz. This is to our knowledge the shortest pulse ever generated directly from a laser. For dispersion compensation we used a prism pair in combination with double-chirped mirrors, which balances the higher-order dispersion of the prism pai...
متن کاملDiode-pumped passively mode-locked Nd:YVO4 laser at 914 nm.
We demonstrate, for the first time, to our knowledge, a diode-pumped passively mode-locked Nd:YVO4 laser, operating on the 4F(3/2)-4I(9/2) transition of the neodymium ion at 914 nm. We obtained 8.8 ps pulses at approximately 914 nm at a repetition rate of 94 MHz, and an averaged output power of 87 mW by using a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror.
